DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGY ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
Established as a department in 2016, the Department of Biology and Environmental Science continues to provide excellent undergraduate education in pure and applied biology and graduate education in environmental science through its BS Biology and MS Environmental Studies programs. The faculty and students in DBES seek to answer questions about biological systems and processes, develop natural products and technological innovations, and explain emerging patterns and trends in natural and man-made systems.
DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE
Established as a Center for Excellence in Information Technology since 2007, UP Cebu’s Department of Computer Science has been the region’s leader in the field of Computer Science. Aligned with UP Cebu’s vision of a research intensive university, the department’s programs offer curricula focusing on the emerging topics and technologies in Computer Science built atop solid mathematical and theoretical foundations.
The Department of Computer Science offers BS in Computer Science and MS in Computer Science.
Mathematics Program
The Mathematics Program was established in 1976 to offer Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) which the courses, included General Education, were similar to that of the BS Mathematics curriculum of UP-CAS of the Diliman campus. It was under the Natural Sciences and Mathematics Division (NSMD) of the University of the Philippines Visayas Cebu College. The elevation of the University of the Philippines Cebu as a constituent unit of the University of the Philippines made the Mathematics Program Office as one of the three units in the College of Science (CS), the largest college in UP Cebu, and mandated to deliver the mathematics and statistics core and service courses offered in the university. Since its inception, the office has produced graduates who possess extensive and well-rounded education and training in mathematics.
